TIMETABLE AND ACTIVITIES

When does it run?

Motivated by our fondness for railways and always seeking to make a train that is reminiscent of the small "narrow-gauge railways" rather than an amusement park, the Tren de Palau circulates offering a trip through nature with the vocation of providing a modest useful service.

The characteristics of the park, dictated by the lie of the land and the landscape, are ideally suited to this kind of train. A train that advances through this natural setting of a rustic nature, typically representative of the Vallès region, preserved thanks to the Town Council. The train is a convenient way of visiting the area. The runs are organised formally and carried out by members of the association on a voluntary basis.

The train is open to everyone on Sundays, almost every public holiday in the morning and optionally (if there are any members who want to carry on) during the afternoon, until twilight.

morning from 11 am to 2 pm.
afternoon optional
departures every 15/20 minutes
route 3.1 km
duration of the journey approx. 20 minutes

You can also reserve a special visit on a weekday.

The steam trains run subject to the availability of material and staff, but we try to guarantee as least the second and fourth Sundays of each month. When this is possible, trains pulled by coal steam locomotives run producing a true display of steam, smoke, smell and sound which, by stimulating your senses, transport you to another era.

The participation of the public in the "role" of hypothetical travellers is subject to the Association's rules and there is no obligation or commitment involved.

Tren de Palau Activities

The Association’s own activities are mainly carried out on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays, with a break for the summer, in July and August.

On weekdays, the Association offers a visit for schools and groups, with special trains circulating, by appointment.

"The Night of the Train"

This is the Tren de Palau's main festival.

It is held every year on the first saturday June, and consists of "the Festival" – a showcase for projects that are finished or under way, which is open to all friends and enthusiasts, whether they are members or not.

There is an outdoor summer supper and usually a live jazz band to accompany the festival. It is an evening with trains circulating all night long, from six in the afternoon to the following morning.

A commemorative poster is also made and each year we try to introduce some new feature to encourage forms of participation, open to friends from other associations, such as special courses for locomotive drivers or on telephone block systems.

This helps us receive invited mobile material from other Associations.
