The Town of Palau-solità i Plegamans
Inhabited since prehistoric times, the place is mentioned in documents dating from a thousand years ago, in the 10th century.
There are Palaeolithic and Neolithic archaeological remains, which, together with La Pedra Llarga megalith confirm the ancient history of this area.
It seems that it was here, at the chapel of Santa Magdalena, that the first Command of the Templar Order was founded in Catalonia in the 12th century.
Today, it welcomes the plurality and vitality of a town that is rich in cultural, sporting and festive displays.
Located 25 km from Barcelona, at 140 metres altitude in the River Caldes basin, in the Vallès Occidental region, between Sabadell and Granollers, it is home to more than ten thousand inhabitants and covers an area of 15 square kilometres.
The land, which is mainly agricultural and forests, has a high level of first-quality industrialisation confined within the modern industrial estates. |
